IMC General Manager
Shawn grew up in the small town of Sackville, New Brunswick. Growing up as a young man he played many sports but as a true Canadian boy hockey was his game of choice. After completing his education in New Brunswick, Shawn moved to Fort McMurray in 1980 and continued with his education where he developed his engineering background. He met his wife Kelly soon after moving here and raised 4 children who are the 6th generation to be born in the municipality and all still reside here along with their 4 grandchildren.
Shawn soon became employed with Suncor Energy, later with TransAlta Energy and then with Petro-Canada. His career developed through increasing leadership roles in Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Start up of large Oil Producing facilities. He is recognized to have a strong business acumen and is an oriented leader with an outstanding proven record of success in the Oil & Gas sector.
Through 40 years of living in the municipality, Shawn has had a lengthy engagement within the community. He coached all 3 of his boys in minor sports, volunteered at various community services; soup kitchens & food banks, and provided services to elders in need. Most Recently Shawn has been the Program Manager for the McMurray Métis’ 2020 Summer Student Program.
